The devolved government for Scotland is responsible for most of the issues of day-to-day concern to the people of Scotland, including health, education, justice, rural affairs, and transport. The aim of ISIS is to:
- To enable effective access to and use of information and technology, supporting of the Scottish Government, its Agencies and other Public Bodies in delivering their agreed business outcomes for the Scottish people. ISIS has approximately 10,000 customers and supplies 9,340 desktops, 2668 laptops and 2,259 blackberries across 197 locations.
- To contribute to making the experience of working for the Scottish Government more simple, manageable and meaningful.

How IT is used within the company:
The effective access to and use of information and technology supports the Scottish Government, its Agencies and other Public Bodies in delivering their agreed business outcomes for the Scottish people. The corporate desktop, SCOTS, provides secure office automation, corporate services and business applications, web and browser technologies, email and internet access for all of our staff and for shared service customers. We also support the increasing need for mobile working and remote access to IT services; managing an infrastructure that includes PCs, laptops, mobile phones, blackberries and tablets. Video conferencing facilities are available and are being enhanced to allow improved communications and reduce the need for colleagues to travel.
In addition, we have a range of business applications developed in-house for very specific business requirements (such as Rent Registration or handling Ministerial Correspondence) as well as corporate business solutions that we share with other public sector organisations and non-departmental public bodies.
